Biogas

Biogas is renewable energy from organic waste. Our upgraded biomethane replaces fossil fuel in transport and industry, which reduces emissions and secures a circular future.

Biogas: Renewable energy for one circular future

Biogas is more than just energy; it is the very engine of the circular economy. By capturing the methane gas that naturally occurs when organic material breaks down, we transform potential greenhouse gas emissions into a valuable resource. The result is a clean, renewable energy carrier that can replace fossil alternatives in sectors that are difficult to electrify.

From raw gas to high-grade fuel

Through our biofilm technology and subsequent purification, we produce energy that meets the industry's strictest requirements:

  • Biomethane (LBG): We upgrade the biogas by removing CO₂ and impurities until we are left with approximately 97 % of pure methane. This liquefied biogas (LBG) is an ideal, climate-friendly fuel for heavy goods vehicles and ships, and contributes to significant emissions reductions in the transport sector.

  • Green Bio-CO₂: As part of the upgrading process, we capture biogenic carbon dioxide. Instead of being released, it can be reused in the food and beverage industry, in greenhouses for increased plant growth, or for industrial cooling processes.

  • Local energy security: By producing the energy where the waste is generated, we reduce the need for long-distance transport of fuel and strengthen local energy preparedness.

Why choose biogas from Antec?

Our approach to biogas production is about maximum resource utilisation:

  • Replacing fossil fuels: Biogas goes directly in and replaces fossil natural gas, diesel and heating oil in industrial processes and transport.

  • Climate-positive effect: By treating livestock manure and food waste in closed facilities, we prevent methane – a potent greenhouse gas – from escaping into the atmosphere.

  • Seamless integration: Biomethane has the same properties as natural gas, which means that existing infrastructure and engines can often be used without major modifications.

Circular energy: Biogas is part of nature's own cycle. The energy we extract today is based on what was harvested yesterday, and the by-product (biofertiliser) ensures that we can harvest again tomorrow.
