Malm Biogas

This will be one of Norway’s most advanced biogas plants, with capacity to process 150,000 tons of biomass annually using the best technologies available on the market.

The plant will receive:

  • Cow and poultry manure from nearby farms
  • Fish sludge and fish silage from the aquaculture industry

From this biomass, liquid biogas (LBG) will be produced – a green fuel for trucks and ships that reduces emissions and contributes to a more sustainable transport sector.

When the biomass has been digested and the methane extracted, biofertilizer is produced. The nutrient content in the biofertilizer is adapted to local soil conditions through a carefully designed process including separation and mixing. This will provide the farmeers wiht a nutrient-rich fertilizer that improves crop yields and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers. We collaborate with the agricultural sector on logistics and quality to ensure an efficient value chain.

In the next phase, we will also capture CO₂ from the process and deliver green CO₂ to the food industry – an important contribution to the circular economy.

Impacts:

  • Direct employment: 5–7 people
  • Indirect employment: 6–8 people in the municipality

The project is now in the FEED phase (Front-End Engineering Design), and we are working closely with all relevant stakeholders towards the investment decision (FID).

Planned start-up: Q3 2027.

Malm Biogass aims to become a key player in sustainable energy and resource utilization in the region.
